Renaissance-Theater Berlin: THE WHO AND THE WHAT

Renaissance-Theater Berlin, Knesebeckstraße 100, 10623 Berlin, Charlottenburg

Tickets 2for1 When: April & May 2025

A comedy and at the same time a story about faith, doubt and the search for truth.

Atlanta, in the south of the USA: a father, Afzal, and two grown-up daughters. The widowed patriarch and native Pakistani has worked his way up from cab driver to successful cab entrepreneur. A rather liberal Muslim, but with very stable views, he takes great care of his daughters. For the older one, Zarina, a talented writer, he is even secretly looking for a husband: without her knowledge, he places a personal ad on muslimlove.com and then personally puts the candidates through their paces - and, above all, tests them for their steadfastness of faith. Eli, a young convert, initially seems to satisfy both father and daughter. He marries Zarina. But when Afzal gets hold of his daughter's latest manuscript, a book about the Prophet Mohammed as a human being, in which Zarina reflects on her personal relationship to love, marriage and religious worldview, a scandal ensues. The strong emotional bonds within this small family are put to the test, in which only unsparing honesty and open devotion can find a way out, between tradition and an enlightened world view, faith and reason, love and separation.

The theater is getting on in years, the air in the hall is very warm and exhausting to endure. Due Get2card was accepted without any problems and a reservation was possible by telephone. Sven Ratzke is a wonderful artist and had the audience on the edge of their seats.

We were in :4 Star Hours
It was an entertaining evening with Rufus Beck in the leading role.1 1/2 hours without a break. After initial hesitation, but a friendly courtesy when it comes to issuing cards. Unfortunately the backrests of the chairs in this old theatre are very low and the distance between the rows of seats is very small, an obstacle for tall people. Afterwards you could speak to the actors, which unfortunately not many
People did.

Leute taten.

In any case a beautiful theatre worth seeing! Booking via the bonus program and card collection were completely unproblematic. I'd love to do it again!
